Lynn Van Pelt, a Captain with the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, graduated from the University of MS, School of Dentistry in 1996. She completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in 1997 at the University of MS School of Dentistry.  Lynn started her career with the IHS as a Staff Dentists in Bethel, AK. She was accepted to the IHS AGPR program at Tahlequah, OK. In 2003, she accepted the position as the Deputy Director at the Haskell Health Center Dental Clinic in Lawrence, KS and then transferred to IHS Headquarters in Rockville, MD as the Deputy Director of the Division of Oral Health in 2007. She has also served the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as the Branch Chief of the Atlanta Branch.  In 2013, she transferred to the Division of Child, Adolescent, and Family Health at the Maternal and Child Health Bureau/HRSA as the Program Coordinator for the Oral Health Program in Rockville, MD.  In 2016, she decided to return to IHS to serve as the Program Coordinator and fulltime instructor with the Alaska Dental Therapy Educational Program. After 4 years in Anchorage, she decided to leave the cold and transferred to the Northwest as the Portland Area Dental Consultant.

Oral Health ECHO Program

Lynn is faculty for the Oral Health ECHO Program, which is designed to provide comprehensive information for oral health professionals to effectively optimize minimally invasive dentistry, and treat patients locally with holistic, culturally appropriate care
