5th Annual emRIC Conference

Staff serving rural and Indigenous communities were invited to participate in a free, 2-day gathering September 27-28, 2023, in Rapid City, SD.

Our goal is to empower our communities to provide excellence in emergency medical care in a manner that honors and respects the historical and cultural context of the communities we serve. We hope to bring together community leaders, nurses, administrators, medics, physicians, pharmacists, pre-health students, and all who are interested, to share our stories, culture, history, language, smiles and good humor, to learn from one another, and to discuss opportunities Emergency Departments have to better serve rural and Indigenous communities.

We also hosted an optional pre-conference session focused on building and supporting the work force providing emergency care on the afternoon of September 26. Both in-person and virtual options for joining were available. We will continue with follow-up virtual ECHO clinics to continue learning, knowledge sharing and support.

Dates: September 26-28, 2023

Location: The Hotel Alex Johnson, 523 Sixth Street, Rapid City, SD 57701
