Program: Trans & Gender Affirming Care

Stigma and discrimination prevent transgender persons from accessing needed health care on a regular basis. When they do access care, it is often sub-optimal because of providers’ lack of knowledge, preconceptions and bias based on the patient’s gender. Additionally, the legal and social environment has become more hostile and intolerant toward transgender persons. Tools, guidelines and other resources covering provider self-reflection, supportive communication, informed consent, history-taking, primary care and more will be shared with participants for their further study and growth.

This course is Part 2 of two modules containing the most critical and fundamental concepts related to the health care of transgender patients. It is strongly recommended that you complete Part 1: Addressing the Healthcare Needs of Transgender and Non-Binary People before taking this course. There will be a short knowledge check quiz before viewing this course.
