“I value my patients. It has been the greatest privilege to serve AI/AN living with HIV at Phoenix Indian Medical Center. At the center of our team is our patients. They are wonderful, caring and responsible. Despite all the disparities that they experience, our over 300 patients have a 91% viral suppression rate which is incredible and on par with the top clinics in the country. ”

CAPT Heather Huentelman, PharmD, BCPS, completed rotations in Cherokee, NC and decided to dedicate her career to serving AI/AN. She completed a pharmacy residency in 2004 at Phoenix Indian Medical Center and has been part of the HIV Center of Excellence since her first day on campus. Heather has trained over 100 pharmacy students in HIV and prevention services and helped multiple sites within IHS establish HIV pharmacy services.
