In this presentation, Eric Metterhausen, PharmD, BCPS, CPP, CPH, presents on what medications may help memory in patients with Alzheimer’s (including removal of exacerbating medications, as well as cholinesterase inhibitors, NMDA receptor antagonist, Recombinant monoclonal antibody against amyloid beta, investigational medications, and more) and the efficacy, safety, and limitations of current treatments.

Eric Metterhausen, PharmD, BCPS, CPP, CPH, serves as the Advanced Clinical Pharmacist Supervisor at Cherokee Indian Hospital. He also serves as a Commander in the United States Public Health Service. He received his PharmD at University of Illinois – Chicago and subsequently became a board-certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He is also Certified in Public Health and licensed in North Carolina as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner. Eric has had a passion for teaching throughout his 10+ year career within IHS. He has served as a preceptor for over 300 pharmacy students from 18 Schools of Pharmacy. He has also served as a preceptor for pharmacy residents at his site. He was selected as an instructor for the IHS Pharmacy Practice Training Program in 2019. In his spare time, Eric likes to spend time with his family, hike, paddleboard, and play disc golf.
