In this series of presentations, Dr. Alithea Gabrellas, MD, provides a brief clinical update on emerging COVID-19 topics. Then, Dr. Melanie Taylor, MD, MPH, Medical Epidemiologist for the CDC, presents an update on Monkeypox (MP). Dr. Taylor will describe the epidemiology of MP in the United States and globally. In addition, Dr. Taylor will describe the routes of transmission, risk of transmission, and medical countermeasures.

Dr. Melanie Taylor, MD, MPH, is a Medical Epidemiologist for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of HIV Prevention. Dr. Taylor also holds the rank of Captain with the United States Public Health Service.

Dr. Alithea Gabrellas, MD, is an Infectious Diseases Physician at Gallup Indian Medical Center. Dr. Gabrellas received her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and specialized in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine.
