In this presentation, Mallika Kolachala, MPH, discusses the use of augmented reality technology or “AR” in relation to OUD, she provides an overview of the brain and OUD as well as the pros and cons of this new technology.

From August 2021 to August 2022, Mallika served as a Graduate Assistant at The Carter Center. Mallika also gained experience as a Resettlement Health Intern at New American Pathways from August 2020 to August 2021, providing healthcare navigation services to refugees and immigrant families. Additionally, they served as a Preferred Communities AmeriCorps Member at New American Pathways from August 2019 to July 2020.
Mallika’s academic experience includes being a Teaching Assistant for HLTH 230: Health and Humanities at Emory University from August 2020 to December 2020. Mallika also participated in the Geriatrics and Gerontology Research Intern Program (GRIP) at Emory University School of Medicine from June 2019 to August 2019, conducting research in the division of general medicine and geriatrics.
Earlier in their career, Mallika gained internship experience as an Intern at ATLANTA SCIENCE FESTIVAL INC from January 2017 to April 2019, where they organized events and conducted booths on the microbiome. Mallika also served as an Immigration Intern at the International Rescue Committee from January 2018 to June 2018.
Mallika’s earliest work experience includes an internship as an Emory Lab Research Assistant in the Pediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology department at Emory University from May 2016 to August 2017, where they assisted with research and data analysis through genomic sequencing and alignment.
Overall, Mallika Kolachala has gained a diverse range of experience in public health, research, teaching, and community engagement throughout their career.
Mallika Kolachala, MPH, obtained their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Emory University, specializing in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences. Mallika attended Emory University from 2020 to 2022. Prior to their graduate studies, Mallika completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at Emory University from 2015 to 2019. Their undergraduate focus was Human Health, with a minor in Sociology.
