In this presentation, Michelle Iandiorio, MD, ECHO faculty member and clinical director for SCAETC and associate professor for UNMHSC, provides an introduction to PrEP, describes the various HIV prevention methods, differentiates HIV PEP from HIV PrEP, reviews potential adverse drug events from HIV PEP and PrEP and identifies who may benefit from PrEP.

Dr. Michelle Iandorio

Michelle Iandiorio, MD, received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York and her medical degree at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Michelle completed a residency in internal medicine, fellowship in infectious disease and the New Mexico Education Scholars Program at the University of New Mexico’s School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has provided specialty primary care to people with HIV in New Mexico since 2004 and has served as Medical Director of UNM Truman Health Services since Spring 2019. She is a professor of internal medicine at the University of New Mexico in the Division of Infectious Diseases. She is the current Clinical Director for the South Central AIDS Education and Training Center.
