In this presentation, Dr. Kasey Claborn, PhD, assistant professor in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work and the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School, presents her work on Project CONNECT and TxCOPE, a digital ecosystem that has been co-designed with the community to improve opioid overdose reporting, tracking and prevention across Texas.

Dr. Kasey Claborn
Dr. Kasey Claborn, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work and the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin. She is an academic scientist passionate about improving the addiction system of care through innovative use of health information technology.
She uses implementation science methods to develop and translate effective real-world solutions for improving prevention and treatment efforts for addiction. She has expertise in translating evidence-based interventions into clinical settings. She completed the National Science Foundation Regional iCorps and the Texas Health Catalyst training programs which provided training in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. In 2020, she was selected into a competitive national cohort of women scientists to complete the Association of Women in Science’s STEM2Market training program.
She has over 15 years of experience working on projects developing and adapting behavioral interventions and health technologies focused on substance misuse among vulnerable populations.
