In this series of presentations, Dr. Amanda Bruegl (Oneida and Stockbridge-Munsee), Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University’s School of Medicine, discusses the national recommendations for HPV vaccination, the new WHO guidelines for HPV vaccines, HPV vaccination trends and numbers in the Pacific Northwest and nationally, as well as a summary of barriers noted in the literature. Then, Tyanne Conner, Native Boost Project Coordinator at the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, shares practical tips for increasing HPV vaccine confidence, how to answer parents’ questions, support vaccination, improve vaccination rates and resources you can use in your work.

Amanda Bruegl is a Citizen of Oneida Nation and is a Gynecologic Oncologist in the department of OB/Gyn at Oregon Health and Science University. She completed her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center and has been at OHSU since that time. She is the Associate Director of the Education Core for the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence, a recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Minority Faculty Development Award, and has research interests in gynecologic cancer prevention in American Indian/Alaska Native women.
Tyanne Conner, is the Native Boost Coordinator at the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB). She came to NPAIHB from the CDC Foundation, where she served as the COVID-19 Public Health Workforce Development Trainer. Prior to that Tyanne worked at OHSU School of Medicine as a Program Technician for the Undergraduate Medical Education Program.
