This presentation and knowledge-sharing event includes an overview of how communicating with patients via text message can help health centers to improve clinical quality and health outcomes, including the ability to close care gaps and promote health education among patients. Also discussed will be how texting patients can help drive workforce efficiency and improve staff and patient satisfaction. Guests from Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Crooked Tree Wellness Clinic, Hannahville Indian Community, and Pokagon Health Services will present alongside CareMessage Chief Medical Officer, Tracy Angelocci, as they share their experiences with using text message technology to meet their health centers’ clinical goals, and answer questions.

As the first full-time Chief Medical Officer at CareMessage, Dr. Angelocci leads clinical strategy while serving as an internal educator and external advocate. An Internist and Pediatrician, she most recently served for more than 10 years as the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at Lone Star Circle of Care, one of the largest FQHCs in Texas. She has a unique career track that has covered both the vendor and clinician sides of healthcare information technology. Dr. Angelocci combines her history of senior-level electronic medical record software design with avid experimentation in data-driven clinical practice transformation to manage population health more effectively.

Patient Navigator | Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan
Emily Ferroni, M.Sc, is contracted through the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan as a Patient Navigator of Cancer Screening. She works out of Little Traverse Bay Band Health Clinic in Petoskey, Michigan. She went to Lake Superior State University for a B.Sc. of Kinesiology. She then continued her education at Northern Michigan University to graduate with a MS of Exercise Science. Emily’s research while getting her masters was heavily focused on cancer and sports biomechanics. She completed a thesis researching the effect of exercise within a cancer survivor population.

Licensed Practical Nurse, Health Information System Specialist, Certified Technology AEMR Trainer | Hannahville Health Center
Tara, a descendent from the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians is the Health Information System Specialist at the Hannahville Health Center; you will see her throughout all the clinics and departments assisting staff with the Electronic Health Record System. She is also an LPN; you may have her as your nurse on occasion. Tara is a U.P native along with her daughter. Tara and her daughter found their way back to the area the summer of 2022 and are thrilled to be “home”. Outside of work Tara enjoys spending time at her cabin near Lake Superior, painting and photography. You will find her chasing the sun with daughter, Daisy.

Brigg Reilley

Brigg Reilley has worked with IHS and NPAIHB for a combined 12 years, starting with the HIV program. Brigg now supports the National Program’s management and evaluation for HIV and HCV. Prior to IHS, he worked for Doctors without Borders in several international projects and for the Office of Public Health in Louisiana. Brigg has an MPH from Tulane University.
